Has anyone bothered to do the Math?
(180 x 6.5) x .02 = 23.4 hours
Or 3.6 school days per year (or 21.6 days over the course of those grades), and that’s not counting test prep and and local benchmarks.
I maintain that doing this to children from 8 to 13 years old is abusive miseducation.
I’m not impressed Mr. President. I posit that the continued emphasis on test scores, using them to evaluate schools and teachers and reducing students to essentially meaningless numbers is, has been and will continue to have a negative impact on learning and performance.
To quote Malcolm X, “If you stick a knife nine inches into my back and pull it out three inches, that is not progress.” Eliminating 4 hours of testing per year is not progress.
It is a cynical. political ploy.
